School Girl or Coooooool Girl?

Every morning, I feel like I am packing for a small vacation, instead of a work day. Lunch, check. Make-up, check. Extra shoes (theres no parking at work), check. Umbrella, check. Purse, check. It’s no wonder this red leather backpack has become a staple in my work wardrobe.IMG_2203

When I threw it on yesterday morning, I immediately transformed my look from confident educated professional to sensitive school girl. Despite my outgoing personality as a child, I was still very sensitive, making every effort to fit in. For example:

  • Spiral perm because if I go to school looking like a poodle, just like everyone else, I won’t bring attention to myself
  • Informing my classmates my father works in corrections. Well, if I’m not tough enough, maybe my dad’s tough career will get me through the moment
  • Wearing my sisters clothes. I would sneak into her room and pick something that was cooler than what I had. Paris Sport Club, a few sizes too big, would definitely up my status.

I’m happy to announce that I’ve grown up and walking around yesterday as a 33 year old school girl didn’t even phase me.

  1. This is such a great outfit! Not school girl at all! This is coming from someone that loved wearing peter pan collar blouses and plaid skirts for almost 4 years though lol I guess I’m just a sucker for classic basics. I’m also obsessed with your backpack! I’ve been looking for something practical, but haven’t seen any that tickle my fancy.

    Have a great day!

    1. I’m with ya all the way! Classic basics, you can keep them forever and they never go out. And when they are thrifted, well thats a deal! Thanks so much for stopping by the blog! I’ll keep my eyes out for another and if I come across something, I’ll take a photo and send to you! I always love being on the hunt for something for someone else.

    1. Ha! Thanks so much! Having an older sister is a bonus. The downfall, you end up with a lot of hand-me-downs!
